Doctor at The Christ Hospital Performs First-in-the-Region Robotic Gallbladder Removal Surgery

CINCINNATI (October 12, 2026) - The Christ Hospital Health Network recently performed the first-in-the-region Single Port robotic gallbladder removal surgery. Jon Schilling, MD, general surgeon at The Christ Hospital, led the team in the groundbreaking cholecystectomy.

The Single Port robot at The Christ Hospital has been used for hernia repair, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, heart surgeries and additional procedures. As the only general surgeon in the region to use the robot for gallbladder removal, Dr. Schilling is leading the way in cutting-edge technology.

"We are thrilled to be bringing a new tool to patients in need of gallbladder removal by offering minimally invasive surgery that is both safe and with a short recovery, while also addressing a patient's concern of having abdominal surgery," said Dr. Schilling.
