A Message from President Caldwell on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

On this National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Georgia Military College proudly extends its heartfelt gratitude to the men and women in law enforcement who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities. Your commitment to the safety and well-being of others embodies the highest ideals of service, sacrifice, and integrity. Today, we honor you and reflect on the profound alignment of your values with those of our institution: "Duty, Honor, Love of Country."

At Georgia Military College, we hold these three values as the foundation of everything we do. "Duty" reminds us of our responsibility to serve others selflessly. "Honor" calls us to act with unwavering integrity, and "Love of Country" inspires a deep sense of loyalty and commitment to the greater good. These principles embodied by our military are also the guiding light for law enforcement officers across our Nation.

Much like military service members, law enforcement officers pledge to uphold their duty in the face of challenges and adversity. You work tirelessly-often at great personal risk-to safeguard our freedoms and preserve our way of life. The sacrifices you make, whether it be time away from family, physical dangers, or the mental toll of the job, are immense. Yet, you carry out your duties with resilience and courage, ensuring that our communities remain places of peace and security.

As an institution that prepares the next generation of authentic servant leaders, Georgia Military College recognizes and respects the parallels between military service and law enforcement. Both demand a profound commitment to service above self, a dedication to justice, and the courage to make difficult decisions under pressure. In both fields, individuals must embody the principles of "Duty, Honor, Love of Country" to earn the trust and respect of the communities they serve.

All of us at Georgia Military College want to express our deepest gratitude to all law enforcement officers for your extraordinary service. Your bravery and steadfast commitment do not go unnoticed. You inspire us with your devotion to protecting others and remind us of the enduring importance of service to our fellow citizens.

Today and every day, we stand with you in appreciation and respect. Thank you for your sacrifices, your courage, and your unwavering dedication to keeping our communities safe. You are the guardians of peace, and for that, we are forever grateful.

-Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, USA (Ret.)
