Baytown Fire Department Responds to Tank Farm Fire on Causeway Road

At approximately 7:40 a.m. this morning, the Baytown Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire in the wooded area near the 2400 block of Causeway Road. Upon arrival, crews discovered an active tank farm fire at Trek Resources, Inc.

Due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area, additional water support was requested. Mutual aid was provided by tankers from Cove, Beach City, and Crosby Volunteer Fire Departments to support firefighting operations. Foam trucks were also requested from Harris County Hazmat and ExxonMobil to assist with suppression efforts.

Crews focused on containing the fire and cooling nearby tanks to prevent further ignition. The Baytown Fire Department's HazMat team conducted continuous air monitoring and issued a shelter-in-place order for nearby neighborhoods.

The fire has since been fully suppressed. Final air quality readings indicated no hazardous levels, and the shelter-in-place order has been lifted.

We thank our mutual aid partners and agency support teams for their response and coordination. No injuries were reported. The cause of the incident remains under investigation by the Baytown Fire Marshal's Office.
