Commissioner Kadis in Poland to strengthen cooperation on Baltic fisheries sustainability

Commissioner Kadis will visit Gdynia and Gdańsk on 4-5 September to address the urgent challenges faced by the Baltic fisheries sector. With fish stocks in decline, the visit will focus on reinforcing cooperation with Polish partners to secure the sustainability of the Baltic Sea and the future of Poland's fishing communities.

Central to the discussions will be how to make full use of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund to compensate losses, address structural overcapacity and support the sector's sustainability transition.

On Thursday 4 September, the Commissioner will meet producer organisations at the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute in Gdynia, followed by a working dinner with the Jacek Czerniak, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

On Friday 5 September, the programme will include a study visit to a fishing vessel in the Gdynia port, followed by an exchange with stakeholders at the Dalekomorski Port Rybacki in Gdańsk, and a press point site at 11:30 CEST. The visit will conclude with a visit in the Port of Gdańsk underlining the importance of Poland's role in shaping the future of Baltic fisheries.
