Santa Ana City Council approves $100,000 to assist residents affected by immigration enforcement

City of Santa Ana launches Ayuda Sin Fronterasprogram to provide resources to impacted households.

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The City of Santa Ana has established an emergency financial assistance program for Santa Ana residents who have been impacted by recent federal immigration enforcement actions.

The Santa Ana Ayuda Sin Fronteras (Help Without Borders) program provides qualified households with up to one month's worth of housing expenses to help with past-due rent and utility bills. The Santa Ana City Council approved $100,000 in funding for the assistance program on July 1.

"Our community stands strongest when we support one another, especially in times of uncertainty," Mayor Valerie Amezcua said. "This assistance program reflects the Santa Ana City Council's commitment to protecting the dignity and stability of each resident impacted by the recent, unjust immigration enforcement actions."

The assistance program is just one of several recent actionstaken by the City Council to address immigration enforcement activity. The City Council also approved a resolution reaffirming the City's commitment to the California Values Act and its Sanctuary City policies, is seeking federal records pertaining to immigration enforcement activity in Santa Ana, and voted to join a federal lawsuitto stop unconstitutional and unlawful immigration enforcement stops.

The Ayuda Sin Fronterasprogram is available to Santa Ana residents who have been impacted by immigration enforcement actions and who are renters living within Santa Ana with a household income at or below the Moderate-Income level.

The City is partnering with trusted community-based organizations to assist with referrals and program administration.
