Walking for Wellness Returns to Jacksonville for Another Season of Indoor Exercise

Jacksonville Memorial Hospital's popular Walking for Wellness program returns this fall, offering community members a safe, comfortable place to stay active during the colder months.

The free indoor walking program will begin Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the JHS Bowl, 215 S. Church St., and continue through March 25, 2027.

Walking for Wellness provides an ideal alternative when winter weather makes outdoor walking uncomfortable or unsafe. Walkers of all ages are invited to take advantage of the indoor facility and enjoy the health benefits of regular physical activity while connecting with fellow community members.

The JHS Bowl will be open for walkers from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on days when Jacksonville School District 117 is in session. The program will be closed during school holidays, including Thanksgiving break, Christmas vacation and any other days school is not in session.

The program remains a popular community resource, attracting an average of 75 walkers each day it is open.

Participation is free, and no registration is required. Walkers will simply be asked to check in upon arrival and check out before leaving.
