Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Announces Annual Heritage Weekend Events

ATLANTA - Members of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) announce their annual Heritage Weekend, a multi-day gathering centered on remembrance, resistance and the Black community across Georgia, taking place Friday, February 27, through Sunday, March 1, 2026.

"Our heritage is not just something we commemorate-it is something we carry forward in our actions," said State Representative Park Cannon (D-Atlanta).

"Heritage Weekend is an opportunity to gather in truth, to celebrate our culture unapologetically and to recommit ourselves to the work of justice, equity and collective care," said State Representative Eric Bell (D-Jonesboro).

The weekend will begin with the Heritage Weekend Gala, an event to honor leaders and organizers across Georgia, on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 7 - 10 p.m. at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia, with an after dark event beginning at 10 p.m.

Volunteers, legislators and community members will then come together for a town hall, where they will distribute coats to individuals in need, assemble hygiene kits and take part in neighborhood clean-up efforts on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 12-6 p.m. at Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Attendees are invited to gather in faith led by Pastor and United States Senator Raphael Warnock on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. The weekend will conclude with a coalition brunch on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 1 - 4 p.m. at Race Amity Center in Atlanta.
