The continuing investigation into the December 8, 2024, fatal shooting of De'Angelo Black, 20, on I-24 near the Sillman Evans Bridge has led to the indictment of two men on multiple criminal counts, including first-degree murder.
Qlando Moore, 21, is being held in the Metro Jail without bond on a grand jury indictment charging him with murder, three counts of felony reckless endangerment, three counts of aggravated assault, using a gun in the commission of a dangerous felony, and evidence tampering. Markist Jones, 34, is facing murder and evidence tampering counts. He is presently incarcerated in a Tennessee prison on drug and weapons charges.
The investigation, led by Homicide Unit Detective Miranda Vaughan, shows that Black was a passenger in a Saturn Ion sedan when individuals in that car became involved in a dispute with persons in another vehicle while at a gas station in North Nashville. The people in the Saturn said the other car followed them onto the interstate where shots were fired just after they entered I-24 west from I-40. Black, a rear seat passenger, was the only one hit. The driver of the Saturn pulled onto the Shelby Avenue exit ramp and got help from an officer who was working a football traffic assignment. Black was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died. Detective Vaughan's investigation led to the identification of Moore and Jones as the suspects in this murder case.
