We will continue to support Ukraine and will walk together along the path to our future together in the European Union and NATO. This was stated by Prime Minister Andrey Gurov at a joint press conference with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after their bilateral meeting. Prime Minister Andrey Gurov stressed that the ongoing visit to Kyiv of the Bulgarian delegation that he leads clearly demonstrates Bulgaria's support for Ukraine and its efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in the interest of security not just of Ukraine itself but also for the whole of Europe.

Prime Minister Andrey Gurov underscored the 10-year defense cooperation agreement signed during today's visit. In his view, this is an effort that strengthens Euro-Atlantic security regionwide. Alongside, our national contribution to the NATO PURL mechanism was approved which demonstrates solidarity in hard times and strengthens the Alliance's defense capabilities. Prime Minister Gurov also emphasized the importance of security in the Black Sea region. We highly appreciate Ukraine's capabilities to effectively parry attacks, protect critical infrastructure and ensure freedom of shipping, Andrey Gurov said further.

The Prime Minister was firm that Bulgaria would be a partner of Ukraine not just in the present hard times but also in the country's recovery and reconstruction. Andrey Gurov gave special attention to the Vertical Gas Corridor and to the railway connectivity of Alexandropoulis and Odesa which, in his words, are very important projects that ensure not only the security of energy supplies but also the security of NATO's Eastern Flank as a whole. Prime Minister Andrey Gurov enumerated some areas in which Bulgaria and Ukraine can develop and expand their cooperation: research, innovation, technology transfer. The Prime Minister outlined opportunities for interaction in the defense industry.

In his answer to media questions, Prime Minister Andrey Gurov noted the caretaker government's priority which is to organize fair elections in Bulgaria in April. Regarding the Belene NPP reactors, the Prime Minister noted that it is up to the Bulgarian Parliament to pronounce on this matter.
