Volunteer for a Board or Commission to help shape Boulder’s future

Volunteers appointed to serve on a board or commission help City Council examine issues and, in turn, work with elected officials and staff to shape the future of Boulder.

Board and Commission meetings are offered in a hybrid format allowing members the option to participate in-person or virtually. Members are also offered an EcoPass to enjoy unlimited rides on RTD trains and buses.

The following boards and commissions will be filling vacancies for 2026:

  • Arts Commission
  • Beverage Licensing Authority
  • Board of Zoning Adjustment
  • Boulder Junction Access District - Parking Commission
  • Boulder Junction Access District - Travel Demand Management Commission
  • Boulder Urban Renewal Authority
  • Cannabis Licensing Advisory Board
  • Design Advisory Board
  • Downtown Management Commission
  • Environmental Advisory Board
  • Housing Advisory Board
  • Housing Authority
  • Human Relations Commission
  • Landmarks Board
  • Open Space Board of Trustees
  • Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
  • Planning Board
  • Transportation Advisory Board
  • University Hill Commercial Area Management Commission
  • Water Resources Advisory Board

The Police Oversight Panelis also filling vacancies for 2026. Interested applicants should use the board and commissions application.

Applications will be open until Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026. Many boards and commissions have unique requirements for applicants. Please see the list of requirements and vacancies on the city's website. A reminder that if your term is set to expire this year, you must reapply for your current seat.
