TULSA, Okla. (May 18, 2026) - The Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) Foundation has contributed $50,000 to United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma to support ongoing tornado recovery and long-term rebuilding efforts following the devastating tornado that struck Enid and surrounding areas earlier this spring.
The tornado, which touched down on April 23, caused significant damage in the Gray Ridge neighborhood and nearby areas, leveling dozens of homes and displacing families. While no lives were lost, the storm left a long and complex recovery process for affected residents.
Funds from the PSO Foundation are helping United Way of Enid & Northwest Oklahoma meet immediate and longer-term needs, including supporting volunteer staging and feeding operations, purchasing equipment and supplies for debris removal, and assisting residents as they navigate gaps between insurance coverage and rebuilding costs. The funding will also help address longer-term recovery needs such as housing assistance, trauma support, and rebuilding resources. "While the cleanup has made incredible progress, we know recovery doesn't end when the debris is gone," said Dan Schiedel, executive director of United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma.
"This generous support from the PSO Foundation allows us to walk alongside homeowners for the long haul, helping bridge the gaps between insurance, short-term aid, and what families truly need to rebuild their lives."
United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma continues to coordinate with local agencies, nonprofits, and community partners to ensure relief funds are used efficiently and effectively to support impacted residents throughout the recovery process.
