On October 15, H.E.Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, led a delegation to South Africa and paid a visit to the African Commission on Nuclear Energy (AFCONE). He held discussions with Mr. Gaspard Liyoko Mboyo, Chairperson of AFCONE.
Amb. Jiang stated that the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) proposed by President Xi Jinping holds great significance in addressing the current challenges of global governance. The Mission of China to the African Union is ready to work hand in hand with AFCONE to jointly implement the GGI, promote the effective implementation of the African Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Treaty, strengthen cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear technology, and advance the peaceful, safe, and sustainable development of atomic energy. He also shared highlights from the Global Leaders' meeting on Women recently held in Beijing.
Mr. Mboyo warmly welcomed Amb. Jiang and highly commended both the GGI and the Global Women's Summit. He noted that the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Action Plan (2025-2027) provides clear direction for enhancing cooperation between Africa and China in the peaceful use of nuclear technology, and expressed readiness to further deepen exchanges and collaboration with China for the benefit of both African and Chinese people.
