Minister of Foreign Affairs' bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Sugiono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia

On 6 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a bilateral meeting over a Working Lunch with H.E. Mr. Sugiono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

Both sides reaffirmed the strategic importance of the close Thailand-Indonesia ties and welcomed the elevation of bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership during the visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia to Thailand in May 2025. Both Foreign Ministers also agreed to jointly advance development of a Plan of Action to translate the partnership into concrete outcomes, and reflect a long-term, forward-looking cooperation framework. As founding members of ASEAN and major economies of the region, Thailand and Indonesia will strengthen coordination on key regional issues. The Ministers also discussed ASEAN's role in supporting sustainable peace in Myanmar, while Thailand reiterated its commitment to resolving issues with Cambodia peacefully, through existing bilateral mechanisms.

Both sides also agreed to expand economic cooperation, including on agricultural produce, sustainable fisheries, Halal industries, energy, tourism, and future industries. Thailand stands ready to host the Joint Trade Committee meeting between Thailand and Indonesia in 2026, in order to increase investments between the two countries. The Thai side also requested the Indonesian side to continue to support Thai investors operating in Indonesia.
