Gaithersburg Receives Prestigious Financial Reporting Award

The City of Gaithersburg has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the 48^th consecutive year. The City's annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program. Among the criteria is a commitment to present the financial information in a constructive and transparent way and to motivate community stakeholders to read and clearly understand the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

"This award highlights our team's strong commitment to clear, transparent financial reporting," said Janice Hartman, Director of the Department of Finance and Administration. "Our staff works diligently to ensure the City's financial information is accurate, accessible, and easy for the community to understand."
