The creation of the Territory Community Garden in Austin would be supported by $270,000 in Open Space Impact Fee (OSIF) funding through a proposal introduced to City Council today by Mayor Brandon Johnson.

Planned for a former City lot at 557 N. Central Ave. by nonprofit group Territory, the project includes landscaping, walkways and other amenities. The OSIF funding would cover the entirety of project costs.

The OSIF program allocates fees paid by residential construction projects for open space improvements that offset the impact of new residents on community parks and related resources.
