Hoboken Police Department to participate in DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 25

The Hoboken Police Department announces it will once again be participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) National Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25, 2026, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to drop off unneeded, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs, no questions asked, at the following locations:

  • Hoboken Police Department Headquarters, 106 Hudson St.
  • Adams Gardens, 220 Adams St.
  • Monroe Gardens, 221 Jackson St.
  • Fox Hill Gardens, 311 13th St.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day provides a convenient, safe, and anonymous way to remove unused or expired medications from homes, helping to prevent misuse, accidental poisoning, and environmental contamination.

"National Take Back Day gives our residents a simple and secure way to dispose of unneeded or expired prescription medications," said Police Chief Steven Aguiar. "These drugs too often become a gateway to addiction, and I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to go through your cabinets, drop them off at one of the approved locations, and help keep these drugs out of the wrong hands."

In addition to prescription medications, e-cigarette and vaping devices can also be dropped off, as long as the batteries have been removed. If the battery cannot be removed, consumers can check with large electronic chain stores who may accept the device for proper disposal.
