This morning the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, had two telephone conversations with the President of the Republic of Israel, Isaac Herzog, and with the Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), Muhammad Mustafa. In the first conversation, Minister Tajani addressed the issue of the conflict between Israel and Iran and the consequences of this phase for the populations in Israel and Palestine. Minister Tajani offered his condolences to President Herzog for the civilian victims recorded in recent hours. Minister Tajani also vigorously reiterated his request to suspend military operations in Gaza that involve the civilian population. President Herzog reported to the Minister that Israel is ready to accept the proposals of American, Egyptian and Qatari mediators for a ceasefire with Hamas.
To Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mustafa, Minister Tajani confirmed the Italian government's solidarity with the Palestinian National Authority and the support that the Italian government will maintain for the PNA, first and foremost in the multilateral forums of the United Nations and the European Union. Prime Minister Mustafa thanked Minister Tajani for the latest medical evacuations and for the assistance provided, first and foremost, to Palestinian children. With last Wednesday's flights, 150 Palestinian minors were assisted and 650 Palestinian relatives and citizens were welcomed in Italy.
