WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released a video statement commemorating the third anniversary of Hamas' terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7th, 2023. Senator Rosen has been a fierce advocate for the safety and security of Israeli and American hostages, and has stood firmly against Hamas' brutal acts of terror. Last week, she passed a bipartisan resolution honoring the innocent Americans murdered and taken hostage by Hamas on October 7th, 2023. During the hostage crisis, Senator Rosen led a bipartisan resolution in the Senate demanding the safe release of the remaining hostages who were still in captivity in 2025. In October 2023, following a visit to Israel where she met with families of those taken captive, she introduced a bipartisan resolution, which later passed the Senate, condemning Hamas's attacks and demanding the release of hostages.
Three years since the tragedy of October 7th, Senator Rosen is continuing to push to fully implement the ceasefire so that Hamas disarms, reconstruction can begin, and a path forward for lasting peace in the region can be found.
Below is a transcript of Senator Rosen's statement:
Today marks three years since Hamas launched the worst terrorist attack in Israel's history - the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust.
Twelve hundred people, including almost 50 Americans, were brutally murdered. Women were raped, parents killed in front of their families, and 251 people - including children and the elderly - were taken hostage.
Today, three years after the horrific attacks on October 7th, we are so grateful that there are no hostages sitting in Gaza. However, the scars will always remain. Families and communities changed forever.
And it is our responsibility to make sure the world never forgets this unspeakable violence, and the devastation it caused.
