The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominees for the National Mango Board. Nominees are needed to fill six member seats with terms beginning Jan. 1, 2027, and ending Dec. 31, 2029.
Nominees are needed for the following seats:
District II includes Mobile, Ala., New Orleans, La., Port Arthur, Texas, Laredo, Texas, Minneapolis, Minn., Duluth, Minn., Milwaukee, Wis., Detroit, Mich., Chicago, Ill., Cleveland, Ohio, St. Louis, Mo., Houston, Texas, and Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.
The board is made up of 18 industry members including eight importers, seven foreign producers, two domestic producers, and one first handler. Since 1966, Congress has authorized the development of industry-funded research and promotion boards to provide a framework for agricultural industries to pool their resources and combine efforts to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities. AMS provides oversight of 21 boards, paid for by industry assessments, which helps ensure fiscal accountability and program integrity.
