TerraPower Awards New Supply Chain Orders for Natrium® Project

TerraPower, a nuclear innovation company, announced today the award of three supplier contracts to support the groundbreaking Natrium project, currently under construction in Kemmerer, Wyoming. This is the fifth round of procurement awards for the project, as TerraPower continues to lead the industry in revitalizing the advanced nuclear supply chain with key procurements for the country's first commercial-scale advanced reactor project.

TerraPower has already secured 100% of the long-lead items for the project, as well as awarded the entire Natrium reactor enclosure system. These additional awards demonstrate the Natrium project's critical role in building the domestic capabilities needed to scale next-generation nuclear technology to meet growing energy demand.

Supplier awards include:

• AVANTech, LLC: AVANTech, LLC, based in South Carolina, will design advanced sodium processing system modules and supporting skids for the Natrium plant, as well as fabricate and deliver the Test and Fill Facility (TFF) Cold Trap Skid.

• Structural Integrity Associates: Structural Integrity Associates, with locations across the U.S., will design and fabricate the Sodium Cover Gas Gamma Spectroscopy Analysis Cabinet (SCGY), a critical radiation monitoring system for the Natrium technology. The cabinet will provide essential gamma spectrometry of cover gas exhaust to monitor radioisotopes and deliver critical operational insights for safe reactor operations.

• PAR Systems: PAR Systems, headquarters in Minnesota, will design and fabricate the Pool Handling Machine (PHM), a specialized crane system for spent fuel pool operations. The machine will safely handle and transport spent nuclear fuel assemblies, and related components, within the spent fuel pool, providing precise positioning and movement capabilities essential for fuel storage, inspection and maintenance activities.

The first Natrium plant is being developed through the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (ARDP), a public-private partnership. The ARDP was awarded under President Trump's first administration; and continued federal support for deploying new plants was outlined in May in President Trump's executive orders. The project is expected to be completed in 2030 and will be the first utility-scale advanced nuclear power plant in the United States.

The Natrium technology features a 345 MWe sodium-cooled fast reactor with a molten salt-based energy storage system. The storage technology can boost the system's output to 500 MW of power when needed as it is designed to keep base output steady, ensuring constant reliability, and can quickly ramp up when demand peaks - it is the only advanced reactor design with this.
