Topeka, Kan. - The Washburn University Music & Theatre Department will host performances in May featuring Washburn music students and faculty. All events will take place on the Washburn University campus, most are free and open to the public.
Washburn University Opera Studio "Cosi fan tutte" Performances
Date and Time: 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 2; 2 p.m., Sunday, May 3
Location: Neese-Gray Theatre
The Washburn University Opera Studio will present "Così fan tutte," one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's most celebrated comic operas.
Performed in Italian, the production will feature student vocalists in collaboration with the Washburn University Orchestra. The performance will showcase Mozart's wit and musical craftsmanship through a lively blend of vocal and orchestral performance.

Washburn University Jazz Ensemble Concert
Date and Time: 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 5
Location: Hurd Recital Hall
The Washburn University Jazz Ensemble will present a concert showcasing a mix of classic big band standards and contemporary jazz selections.
The performance will feature student musicians under the direction of faculty, highlighting improvisation, ensemble work and a range of jazz styles. Audience members can expect selections inspired by legendary artists along with modern arrangements.
Washburn University Composition and Percussion Studio Recitals
Date and Time: 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 7
Location: Hurd Recital Hall
The Washburn University Composition and Percussion Studios will present a recital featuring original student compositions and solo percussion performances.
The program will highlight new works written by student composers alongside dynamic performances by percussion students, showcasing a range of styles, techniques and instrumentation. The recital offers audiences a chance to experience innovative music and the creative work of emerging artists.
Cello at the Opera
Date and Time: 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 7
Location: White Concert Hall
The Washburn University Cellos and the Topeka Cello Collective will present "Cellos at the Opera" in collaboration with the Washburn Opera Studio.
The program will feature music from Bizet's "Carmen" to favorites from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera," featuring vocal students and faculty Dr. Crystal Buck, Dr. Joseph DeSota and Professor Lisa Gerstenkorn and guest performances from Dr. Donald Livingston (organ), Dr. Coleman Scott (trumpet) and Dr. Raffaele Cipriano (conductor).

Location: White Concert Hall
Washburn University President JuliAnn Mazachek invites the public to join her for an evening of music as the Washburn Orchestras, Wind Ensemble and Choral perform highlights from this academic year.
