UW–Stevens Point to host “Soaring Beyond Limits,” a Women’s History Month event

A free event in celebration of Women's History Month will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in March.

"Soaring Beyond Limits" will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3 in the Dreyfus University Center, 1015 Reserve St., Stevens Point. The doors will open at 4:15 p.m.

The event, hosted by UWSP Continuing Education, features keynote speaker Amelia Rose Earhart, a professional speaker, pilot, author and artist who pursued her goal of flying around the world, inspired by her namesake.

In her recently published book, "Learn to Love the Turbulence: 'Flight Lessons' on becoming the pilot in command of your own journey," Earhart shares ways to think like a pilot to move through life with agility and confidence. The first 250 attendees will receive a copy of the book. A meet and greet with the speaker will take place after the event concludes.

In 2014, Earhart completed her goal of circumnavigating the globe along a 28,000 nautical mile route in a single-engine aircraft. She has fifteen-years of experience as a helicopter and breaking news reporter in Denver and Los Angeles, has sent numerous teenage girls to flight school during her ten-year stretch as president of the Fly With Amelia Foundation, hosts a tech podcast focused on the future of AI in business and is now turning her aerial photos into original paintings. She has been invited by Apple, Boeing, American Express, Berkshire Hathaway, United Healthcare and dozens of other industry leaders to share her story.

This event is made possible through a speaker grant from the Tommy Thompson Center for Public Leadership, and with the help of the Sentry School of Business and Economics and Ruth E. Salzmann Center for Women's Leadership at UW-Stevens Point. For more information and to reserve a spot at the event, click here.
