Nov. 19, 2024 - Community meetings planned to gather MHSA input

Interested in learning more about the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA)? Curious about what changes Proposition 1, which passed in early 2024, will have on the MHSA? Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) will be participating in-and hosting-a series of regional meetings to share information and gather input for the MHSA 2025-2026 Annual Update.

The following in-person meetings are scheduled throughout Humboldt:

  • Northern Humboldt (Blue Lake) - Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025
    Time: noon-1:30 p.m. - In person at the Blue Lake Community Resource Center, 111 Greenwood Ave.
  • Eel River Valley (Fortuna) - Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025
    Time: noon-1:30 p.m. - In person at the Adventist Community Service/Humboldt Alcohol Recovery Treatment Program, 2331 Rohnerville Road
  • Southern Humboldt (Garberville) - Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025
    Time: noon-1:30 p.m. - In person at the Garberville Library Conference Room, 715 Cedar St.
  • Eureka - Friday, Jan. 31, 2025
    Time: noon-1:30 p.m. - In person at the DHHS Prof Building, 507 F St.
  • Eastern Humboldt (Hoopa) - Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025
    Time: 5:30-6:30 p.m. - In person at the KTJUSD District Office Board Room, 11800 State Highway 96

Proposition 63, also known as MHSA, was passed by California voters in 2004 and places a 1 percent tax on personal incomes greater than $1 million to fund the development and expansion of mental health services for children, youth, adults and older adults.
