Public Works' Solid Waste Management team is excited to announce the second WyCo Dumpster Days event of 2025! Dumpster Days helps residents recycle electronics waste for a fee and dispose of unwanted bulky items like old mattresses and furniture for free.

The event will is September 5 & 6 from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Indian Springs, 47th & Orville, Kansas City, KS 66102. Visitors need to show proof of Wyandotte County residency with something displaying their name and address, like a driver's license or utility bill.

"We're excited to offer WyCo Dumpster Days again this year as a convenient opportunity for residents to dispose of bulky items and recycle electronics," said Diana Miles, Solid Waste Manager. "Events like this help keep our community clean and give people an easy way to manage items that are hard to get rid of."

Items accepted include electronics recycling, mattresses, furniture, general appliances, fixtures, microwaves, freezers, televisions, and more.

For televisions, computer screens, flat screens, and monitors, the following fees are charged:

  • CRT Computer Screens, $40
  • LCD/Flat Screen TVs, $20
  • CRT TVs, $40

Items that cannot be accepted include:

  • All household hazardous waste
  • Paint
  • Refrigerators and items with Freon
  • Yard & storm debris waste
  • Batteries
  • Loose trash and food waste
  • Medical waste
  • Glass & plastics recycling
  • Tires
  • Construction or demolition material

These items will be turned away at the event, so remember not to bring them! Items from businesses, non-profits, or other commercial entities are also not accepted.

Residents may use the Recycling & Yard Waste Center at 3241 Park Drive, Kansas City, KS 66102, at no charge for yard waste, storm debris, and glass or paper recycling. The center is open from 10 AM to 3 PM, Thursday through Saturday, until December 20. It is closed on holidays.
