Discover Boating Returns to Martha’s Vineyard to Inspire Future Boaters

Continuing its commitment to expanding boating participation, Discover Boating returned to Martha's Vineyard for the fourth consecutive year, connecting with an engaged and influential audience through authentic, on-the-water experiences.

Each August, Martha's Vineyard becomes a vibrant gathering place celebrating Black culture, creativity, community and legacy while attracting a significant audience of affluent Black consumers with an existing affinity for the water. Many visitors arrive on their personal boats, while others charter boats or book fishing and cruising excursions from local marinas in Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. Discover Boating joined the island's cultural celebrations with a three-day activation in Oak Bluffs, hosting outdoor enthusiasts, content creators and community leaders for curated cruising and fishing experiences designed to deepen their connection to the boating lifestyle.

Why It Matters

Martha's Vineyard represents more than an opportunity to introduce new audiences to boating it provides a strategic connection to consumers who are already participating in, considering or progressing toward boat ownership. That connection has translated into tangible industry value. In previous years, participating industry partners have sold boats as a result of relationships initiated through the activation, while many guests have shared that they attend Discover Boating's Northeast and Midwest winter boat shows demonstrating how experiential engagement can connect directly to the broader consumer journey.

Firsthand experiences make boating more tangible and attainable than advertising alone, allowing consumers to envision how boating fits into their lives and explore pathways to participation and ownership. By engaging consumers authentically where they are already gathering, Discover Boating can build relationships that extend beyond the activation from on-water experiences and boat shows to dealers, manufacturers and ultimately boat ownership.

For the industry, Martha's Vineyard demonstrates Discover Boating's broader market expansion role: reaching high-potential audiences, creating meaningful connections to the boating lifestyle and helping move consumers from inspiration and participation toward consideration and purchase.
