On 24 March 2026, the ninth iteration of the annual NATO-China Military Staff Talks was held at NATO Headquarters, in Brussels.

On the NATO side, Lieutenant General Remigijus Baltrėnas, Director General of the International Military Staff (IMS), opened the meeting, and Major General Eray Üngüder, Director of the IMS Cooperative Security Division, led the talks. The talks included an exchange of views on NATO's role, the PLA's modernisation efforts, the international security environment, and priorities and challenges on arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation issues.

NATO and China maintain regular discussions, through both civilian and military channels, to build reciprocal transparency with a view to safeguard the Alliance's security interests.
