East Stroudsburg University's Madelon Powers Gallery will present A Deeper River from Wednesday, February 5 - Thursday, March 6. The exhibit will feature photographic works by Susie Forrester.
Hours for the gallery, located in the university's Fine and Performing Arts Building, Normal and Marguerite streets, are Monday - Friday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. A reception for the artist will be held on Wednesday, February 12 from 4-6 p.m. in the gallery. Both the exhibits and reception are open to the public at no cost.
Susie Forrester's "A Deeper River" reflects a lifetime of dedication to capturing the beauty, resilience, and complexity of the world through her lens. With 40 years of photography, her work evokes an emotional connection to the natural world, human stories, and the interplay of light and shadow. Unlike many photographers who use the camera as a buffer, Forrester wields it as a link to foster relationships with her subjects. Whether capturing a portrait, a landscape, or a man-made object, her lens is an invitation to walk through a threshold and participate in what is here and what is beyond here, connecting us all.
In addition to Forrester's work, the gallery's mezzanine will feature a special exhibition of student photography, curated by Dr. Yi-Hui Huang, professor of art + media + design.
