TORONTO - The government is continuing to expand Ontario Corps by welcoming its latest partner Uber Canada to provide safe and reliable transportation for supplies and people during emergencies. Through Ontario Corps, the province is delivering on its plan to protect Ontario by creating a network of partners and dedicated volunteers ready to respond to local emergencies and deploy critical resources at a moment's notice.

"We are thrilled to welcome Uber into our Ontario Corps network to expand our emergency transportation resources to ensure our communities receive help quickly and efficiently," said Jill Dunlop, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response. "When time is of the essence, delivering life-saving supplies across Ontario can make all the difference during emergencies."

Wherever Uber Canada operates, they can provide safe and reliable transportation to evacuation and reception centres, medical centres and other critical destinations by offering vouchers to community members and first responders for free or discounted rides. They can also deliver essential supplies including meals and hygiene products, move donated goods between warehouses and donation centres, and help coordinate large shipments of relief supplies to communities in need.

The Ontario Corps network can be mobilized within 24 to 72 hours to help communities hit hard by emergencies, deploying resources such as personnel, debris removal tools and machinery, supplies, flood barriers and drones.

People of all skill levels and professional backgrounds are encouraged to volunteer for Ontario Corps to help their communities during emergencies. Volunteers will be provided with training and matched with partner organizations based on their skill levels, interests and availability.

Quick Facts

  • Ontario Corps was successfully deployed on several occasions, including during the 2026 spring flooding and the 2025 ice storm and wildland fire response.

  • During 2026 spring flooding, Ontario Corps partners and volunteers helped with filling and placing sandbags, supporting an evacuation centre and providing mental health supports.

  • A new, state-of-the-art Emergency Preparedness and Response Headquarters will serve as the future home of Ontario Corps. This facility will be equipped with cutting-edge technology needed to protect Ontario as the 24/7, year-round emergency command centre.
