Bismarck, N.D. - NDFB has named Calvin Benson as its new Director of Public Policy. He began his role on February 17 and will lead NDFB's legislative efforts and policy development on behalf of the organization's members.

Benson brings more than a decade of experience in public policy at the local, state, and federal levels. Most recently, he worked in government affairs in North Dakota, where he led legislative and executive branch engagement for a wide range of clients.

Earlier in his career, Benson served as a staff member for U.S. Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (R-MN), where he focused on agricultural policy and disaster relief and worked closely with Farm Bureau members on key rural issues. He has also worked as a city administrator, grain inspector, and board member for several organizations.

"Calvin understands how the legislative process works and knows how to build strong relationships with policymakers and stakeholders," said Jeffrey Missling, Executive Director and CEO of North Dakota Farm Bureau. "He brings valuable public policy experience and a familiarity with Farm Bureau that will help him represent our members and their priorities."

Benson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from North Dakota State University. He and his wife live in Bismarck and are expecting their first child.
