LAKEWOOD, NJ - As the season changes and we move from summer fun to fall festivals, Ocean County offers a host of outdoor activities for residents and visitors to enjoy.
The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation is inviting residents of all ages to enjoy the outdoors at "Sunday Funday" on Oct. 11 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This free community event at Ocean County Park, located at 659 Ocean Avenue, here, promises a day filled with entertainment, hands-on activities, and seasonal festivities. Free parking will also be available for attendees.
"Our Parks Department continuously hosts fantastic events throughout the year for our residents and visitors," said Ocean County Commissioner Robert S. Arace, who serves as liaison to the department. "Whether it is the weekly events held at many of the parks, or bigger annual events, there is always something going on for the whole family to enjoy."
Guests can look forward to a wide variety of attractions designed to appeal to every age group. Throughout the afternoon, attendees will be treated to live music, an engaging magic show, classic field games, and the popular Touch-a-Truck experience. Animal lovers will enjoy spending time at the petting zoo, while those looking to sit back and relax can hop on one of the festive hayrides.
The day kicks off at 12:15 p.m. with a Scavenger Hunt to get participants exploring and interacting right away. Shortly after, a magician will take the stage at 12:30 p.m. to perform a family-friendly show full of tricks and humor, with an encore performance at 2:30 p.m. Music fans can enjoy a one-hour performance by the band A Bandl, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Meanwhile, games such as Pool Noodle Soccer, Hot Potato, and other field favorites are scheduled all afternoon.
The Ocean County Board of Commissioners encourages families, neighbors, and community members to come out and share in a festive fall afternoon. The Ocean County Parks System makes it a priority to provide welcoming spaces where the community can gather, enjoy nature, and create meaningful memories.
