Secretary of State Marco Rubio met today with President Santiago Peña of Paraguay on the margins of the Board of Peace meeting in Washington, D.C. The Secretary thanked President Peña for his leadership in our region and reaffirmed the strong bilateral partnership between the United States and Paraguay. The Secretary commended continued progress on reforms to improve Paraguay's investment climate for U.S. investors. Secretary Rubio also expressed his gratitude to President Peña for Paraguay's continued support in confronting narcoterrorism and strengthening security in our hemisphere. Both leaders agreed to continue close coordination on issues of mutual interest.
