Author Craig Johnson to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Friday, August 7th, 2026
Casper, WY - August 3rd , 2026 -Barnes & Noble is pleased to announce the grand opening of its new Casper, WY bookstore on Friday, August 7th. This marks the second Barnes & Noble to open in Wyoming, joining the store in Frontier Plaza, Cheyenne, which opened to much fanfare in 2023.
The new Barnes & Noble will offer nearly 14,000 square feet of books, toys, games, magazines, gift items, and more. The new Casper, WY Barnes & Noble is located at 600 Newport Road, Casper, WY, 82609, next to Marshall's in the newly constructed Blackmore Marketplace.
The Casper, WY bookstore will celebrate its grand opening at 10AM Mountain time on Friday August 7th, with local author Craig Johnson cutting the ribbon and signing copies of his acclaimed book, The Brothers McKay. Costume Character the Cat in the Hat will also be in attendance to bring added joy to book lovers, big and small.
The new Casper Barnes & Noble is one of 7 stores to open in August, with Barnes & Noble working toward opening 60 stores in 2026. Barnes & Noble now nears 720 bookstores, having been below 600 stores as recently as 2023.
Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards Members will earn double stamps on all purchases made between August 7th and 9th. Customers who are not yet Members are encouraged to sign up and start earning stamps and rewards right away.
Everyone who visits the new Casper Barnes & Noble during the grand opening will have access to exclusive deals, like $50 off any NOOK device. Customers can also save 40% on all DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k Ultra HD movies.

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers.
Store Manager Jesse Smith leads a team of 12 booksellers at the Casper Barnes & Noble, saying "I'm super excited for my team of passionate booksellers to connect and engage with the community through all the wonderful books, as well as toys, vinyl, newsstand and all the other items we sell, and the amazing events we have planned!"
