Joint press statement by Italy, Cyprus, Greece, and Malta on migration issues in relation to the security situation in the Middle East

On the occasion of the Europe Gulf Forum and following on from the meeting in Ayia Napa (Cyprus), the attached statement has been adopted by Cyprus, Greece, Italy, and Malta on joint initiatives aimed at preventing the current situation in the Middle East from leading to a migration crisis similar to that experienced in 2015.

As an immediate operational follow-up, the respective Ministers of the Interior and Migration will meet in Rome on 17 June 2026 to deepen and continue their joint work, at the invitation of the Italian Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedos
