Author Evelyn Skye to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 9AM on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025
Brentwood, CA - January 22nd, 2025 - Barnes & Noble is excited to announce the opening of its Brentwood, CA bookstore on Wednesday, January 29th. The new Barnes & Noble is located in The Streets of Brentwood (2475 Sand Creek Rd, Brentwood, CA 94513), in the space formerly occupied by R.E.I., across from Ulta.
The new Barnes & Noble bookstore marks the return of the bookseller to Brentwood where it closed last October. The official re-opening to the public is at 9AM PT on Wednesday the 29th, with author Evelyn Skye cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books. Evelyn Skye is the New York Times bestselling author of both adult fiction, including One Year Ago in Spain and The Hundred Loves of Juliet, and young adult fiction, including The Crown's Game and Circle of Shadows series. Later this year she is to publish her new novel, The Incredible Kindness of Paper.
The new bookstore is an ambitious expansion in size compared to the old Slatten Ranch store and showcases the highly lauded new Barnes & Noble bookstore design. It will be one of the largest amongst recent Barnes & Noble store openings, and naturally will include a brand-new B&N Café.
"We are delighted to return to Brentwood with such a beautiful new Barnes & Noble," said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. "It has been worth the wait to find this fantastic space, just a five-minute drive from our previous location. We are very grateful to our team of booksellers for all their patience and hard work during the building out of the store. They have done a wonderful job and I know that they will be thrilled to welcome back their customers."
Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.
The Brentwood location is one of four new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open on the 29th, alongside new stores in Colorado, Florida and Texas. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.
"My booksellers and I are thrilled to be opening a new store in Brentwood," said Store Manager Caitlyn Szymkowiak, longtime Barnes & Noble Bookseller. "We can't wait to share our love of reading with every member of our Brentwood community."
