On March 28, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Iceland He Rulong wrote an article titled "Plan Early and Plan Long-term for A Good Outcome" in Iceland's leading newspaper Morgunblaðið. The article presented the key messages of China's Two Sessions and the 15th Five-Year Plan.
The article noted that the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress adopted the report on the Work of Government and the Outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development. The former sets a projected economic growth target of 4.5%-5% for 2026, while the latter defines major strategic tasks on four areas for the next five years, including pursuing high-quality development, strengthening the domestic economy, advancing common prosperity for all and ensuring both development and security.
The article noted that China formulates its future development plans based on its previous track record and the current situation, which ensures that the set development goals can be achieved as scheduled. Amid current international turbulence, China will continue to inject stability and certainty into the world through its own development, and remain a steadfast force for world peace, stability and development.
