Series of events mark the 10th anniversary of the April Battles

Pursuant to the annual activity plan approved by the Minister of Defense, a series of events marking the 10th anniversary of the victory achieved in the April battles of 2016 have been held across the Azerbaijan Army.
Military personnel, participants of the April battles, families of Martyrs, and representatives of the public took part in the events.
The commemorations commenced with a visit to the Alley of Martyrs, where floral tributes were laid at the graves. The memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani nation, Heydar Aliyev and Martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland, was honored with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed.
The speakers highlighted the provocations carried out by the Armenian armed forces on the front lines during the April battles, the Azerbaijan Army's appropriate response to these provocations, and the heroism and bravery displayed by the Azerbaijan Army servicemen in the course of the fighting.
It was noted that the April 2016 battles are regarded as the beginning of subsequent victories achieved under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander, such as the Gunnut operation, the Tovuz battles, the Patriotic War, and anti-terror operations and, more broadly, as the commencement of glorious overall Victory.
During the artistic segment of the events, documentaries were screened, poems were recited, patriotic musical performances and literary-musical compositions were presented. Combatants also shared their personal recollections.
Within the framework of the events, servicemen of the Azerbaijan Army visited the families of Martyrs, and paid tribute to the memory of their fallen comrades.
