President Meloni meets with the Vice-President of the European Commission and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the Vice-President of the European Commission and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, at Palazzo Chigi today.

The meeting provided an opportunity to touch upon the major international political issues, starting with Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, with a particular focus on support for Ukraine and the transition process in Syria, also in light of the results of the Quint ministerial meeting held in Rome by Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani.

The two leaders also discussed the strengthening of the European Union's international role, paying particular attention to the further development of cooperation with the Southern Neighbourhood and Africa, also in the context of the Mattei Plan.
