CCCU Statement on Passing of Pope Francis

The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities is deeply saddened about the passing of Pope Francis on Easter Monday. For 12 years, he served as an example of Christ's love and compassion. He shared his wisdom on vital issues, from poverty and immigration to faith and education, saying, "Education is not about knowing things or taking lessons but about being able to use three lingos: those of the head, the heart, and the hands… learning so that you can think about what you feel and do, can feel what you think and do, and can do what you feel and think. Unity within a person."

Through his mercy, Pope Francis was known as "The People's Pope" and his graceful legacy will continue on as a reminder of faith and unity.
