The deadline to register for the Justice in Action Conference has been extended to Sunday, March 22, at 5 p.m.
The student-led Justice in Action Conference will be held on Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union. The conference offers students an opportunity to explore the role of service, community engagement and social change while developing skills and knowledge related to social justice and civic dialogue.
This year's theme, "What Is Justice Without Democracy," invites participants to examine how justice, democracy and faith shape one another. The theme also reflects on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and encourages discussion about how students can support democratic engagement through service, advocacy and civic participation.
Breakout sessions will include a "Know Your Rights" training with Voces de la Frontera, discussions on justice and belonging in Milwaukee, a session on Milwaukee's Climate and Equity Plan, and environmental justice and student-led conversations about law and immigration.
