Today, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) recognized James Ducey of Grass Lake as the Veteran of the Month for June. The Congressman presented James with the Congressional Record containing his remarks honoring James' service and dedication to our country.
James enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966, serving proudly in the 341st Civil Engineering Squadron at the Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana. James served in the Air Force until 1970, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-4 and was awarded the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.
Even after leaving active duty, James never stopped serving, shifting his efforts to his local community. James joined the Grass Lake American Legion Post 252, where he was appointed Adjutant in 2018, leading the annual Memorial Day celebration for several years and post activities through 2025. His leadership also extended to chairing the American Legion Fireworks Committee and the July 4th Parade in partnership with the Grass Lake Sportsman Club.
He has held numerous other leadership positions and was appointed to the Department Finance Committee and as Secretary of the Department's Internal Affairs Committee.

His stewardship within the American Legion Post 252, the Jackson Veterans Council, and multiple Department committees reflects a deep devotion to uplifting his community and fellow veterans. His remarkable contributions continue to inspire all of us, and we are grateful for his enduring service to our nation."
