Several bills adopted to align domestic legislation with EU acquis

At today's session, the Government of the Republic of Serbia approved several bills related to the further harmonisation of domestic legislation with the European Union acquis communautaire, as well as to fulfilling obligations stipulated under the Reform Agenda and the EU accession process.

The Bill amending the Law on Mandatory Social Insurance Contributions has been approved to align the benefits for hiring new employees with state aid control regulations.

Members of the Government also adopted the Bill amending the Law on Corporate Income Tax, the Bill amending the Law on Personal Income Tax, as well as the Bill amending the Law on Tobacco, which specify the powers of inspection bodies, postpone deadlines for the implementation of certain obligations related to the labelling of tobacco products, and introduce new rules for recording and placing existing stocks on the market.

The Government also adopted the Decision on granting consent to the Rulebook on the List of Medicines Prescribed and Dispensed at the Burden of Mandatory Health Insurance and the Decision amending the Decision on Maximum Prices of Medicines.

The new List of Medicines has enabled the expansion of the List of Medicines to include new innovative medicines and a significant reduction in copay for 769 medicines from List A1, which means that patients will pay lower copay for a large number of therapies.

Members of the Government also adopted decrees on the termination of the validity of the Decree amending the Decree on the criteria for determining the amount of study fees at higher education institutions founded by the Republic and the Decree on the termination of the validity of the Decree amending the Decree on the norms and standards for working conditions at universities and faculties for activities financed from the budget, thus returning the distribution of teaching staff working hours to the arrangements that were in force before their adoption.

The 2025 amendments were adopted as a temporary measure to enable reimbursement for teaching during the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic years, when, due to the interruption of classes, it was necessary to increase the number of teaching hours.

The cabinet also adopted the Environmental Protection Strategy - Green Agenda for the Republic of Serbia for the period until 2033.
