Closure Order extended on problem Caerphilly property

Closure Order extended on problem Caerphilly property

Posted on : 05 Dec 2025 A Closure Order has been extended on a Caerphilly County Borough Council-owned property to tackle ongoing nuisance, criminal activity, and anti-social behaviour.

The decision was made at a recent court hearing, following a successful application from the Council's Caerphilly Homes Anti-Social Behaviour Team. The property, located in the Morgan Jones ward, was issued with a full Closure Order in August after neighbours reported persistent and serious disturbances. These issues continued despite repeated interventions from the team. A partial Closure Order had previously been granted in November 2024.

Closure Orders restrict access to a property and are used only when other actions to address ongoing nuisance and anti-social behaviour have been unsuccessful. In this case, both Orders were breached and arrests have been made. The extension means the property will now remain closed until February 2026.

The Caerphilly Homes Team is also taking further action in pursuit of a possession order for the property, recently granted at a court hearing.

Cllr Shayne Cook, the Council's Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing, said:
"Closure Orders are a final resort when all other interventions have failed. The impact of this property on other residents has been significant, and we hope it sends a clear message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in the borough."

Residents experiencing persistent or serious anti-social behaviour linked to Caerphilly Homes contract holders, household members, or visitors should contact the Caerphilly Homes Anti-Social Behaviour Team on 01443 811440 or email [email protected].
