Statement of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus regarding the escalation of the situation in the Middle East

28 February 2026

We are following with concern the escalation of the situation between Israel and Iran, which has also affected friendly Gulf countries.

We call on the countries involved in the exchange of strikes to abandon dangerous confrontation and return to resolving all differences through political and diplomatic means.

Citizens of Belarus in the affected countries are requested to strictly observe the requirements of local authorities regarding personal security, avoid crowded places, and refrain from filming strikes and their consequences.

In connection with reports on the closure of airspace by countries in the region, we strongly recommend that citizens of the Republic of Belarus who have planned trips to the countries of the region, including transit, check up-to-date information on changes to flight routes with air carriers and tour operators.

In order to ensure personal safety, Belarusian citizens are advised to refrain from traveling to the countries of the region affected by the conflict.

Consular services of the foreign missions of the Republic of Belarus in Israel, Iran, Qatar, and the UAE are providing the necessary assistance to citizens affected by the escalation of the conflict.
