Randwick City Council is inviting the community to step inside a reimagined Randwick Town Hall as the award-winning Town Hall Takeover program returns next week with a vibrant season of creativity, connection and discovery.
Running from August 2026 to February 2027, Town Hall Takeover will see artists, makers and performers transform one of Randwick's most iconic civic spaces through a diverse program of free and low-cost events, including:
The season kicks off on Friday 28 August with Rainbow Rodeo, a colourful celebration of Wear It Purple Day featuring line dancing, performances, DJ sets and a free barbecue. The event recognises and celebrates LGBTQIA+ young people while bringing the community together for an evening of fun and inclusion.
Randwick Mayor Dylan Parker said Town Hall Takeover had quickly become one of the area's most exciting cultural programs.
"Town Hall Takeover invites people to experience our historic Town Hall in a completely new way," Mayor Parker said.
"Whether you're interested in literature, music, markets, workshops, dancing or simply trying something new, there is something for everyone."
In 2025, Town Hall Takeover engaged 266 creatives, delivered 30 days of free and low-cost programming, welcomed more than 5,000 visitors and generated over 700 hours of creative activity in the venue.
Highlights across this season include a celebration of reading featuring bestselling authors, artist and design markets, youth creative labs, music workshops and more.
Each takeover offers a fresh reason to visit and experience the creative talent thriving across our area.
Residents can explore the full program and register for events here.
