Call for proposals to fund projects supporting Digital Investigations and Standardisation

The European Commission published a call for proposals under the Internal Security Fund (ISF) to co-fund projects supporting Digital Investigations and Standardisation. This call has a budget of EUR 6.5 million with EUR 5 million for projects supporting Digital Investigations, and EUR 1.5 million for Standardisation of data formats and communication protocols.

The maximum EU contribution per project ranges between EUR 1 million and EUR 2.5 million for Digital Investigations and must not exceed EUR 1.5 million for Standardisation.

In the field of countering cybercrime and supporting digital investigations, the call will fund projects that help to:

• increase the operational capacity and capabilities of law enforcement and/or judicial authorities;
• increase the availability of technical tools for law enforcement;
• increase awareness on best practices and available solutions.

Projects in the field of standardisation should aim to ensure that future technologies allow lawful access to data and that security solutions are interoperable and compatible with EU rules.

This is especially important for digital evidence, where common data formats and communication systems can help law enforcement and the judiciary to request and handle information more quickly and efficiently. It is also important that standards for key technologies, including artificial intelligence, take account of the specific needs of law enforcement.

The application deadline is 15 December 2026.
