GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Purpose. This MARADMIN provides awareness and
updated information on the Marine Corps Credentialing Opportunities
On-Line (COOL). Marine Corps COOL serves as the official
credentialing resource for all eligible Marines.
2. Reference (a) establishes the Department of War's policy for
military credentialing programs and requires each Service to provide
Service Members with access to standardized, transparent
credentialing resources to support professional development and
transition readiness. To meet this requirement, the Marine Corps
maintains the COOL program, which identifies civilian certifications
aligned with military occupational skills and provides guidance on
funding and application procedures based on meeting eligibility
requirements.
3. Marine Corps COOL supports Marines pursuing professional
credentials that enhance military performance and prepare them for
civilian career opportunities. Marines can access the program and
find detailed guidance, eligibility information, and approved
credentials at https://www.cool.osd.mil/usmc/index.html.
4. Marine Corps COOL is a resource for Marines who want to
understand which civilian credentials relate to their Military
Occupational Specialty and how to obtain them, as well as those
seeking to distinguish themselves through professional growth or
strengthen their transition readiness. It also supports education,
career, and transition advisors, including Career Counselors and
Voluntary Education Center staff who provide guidance on education,
personal and professional development, career requirements, and
available opportunities. In addition, Marine Corps recruiters may
use COOL as a credible tool to demonstrate the professional growth
and civilian career preparation opportunities available through
Marine Corps service.
5. Marine Corps COOL funding is provided on a first come, first
served basis, and opportunities listed on the COOL website are
funded according to program eligibility requirements and available
funding. Marine Corps COOL funding is separate from Tuition
Assistance.
6. The Cyberspace Workforce provides funding for officers and
government civilians assigned to cyber-coded billets only. These
funding requirements are strictly enforced and will not be waived.
7. Questions on Marine Corps COOL should be directed to the
installation Voluntary Education Office. Additional questions may
be submitted through the Marine Corps COOL 'Contact Us' link in the
website footer at https://www.cool.osd.mil/usmc/contact/index.html
8. This MARADMIN applies to the Active Component, members of the
Selected Marine Corps Reserve, and Marines on Active Duty
Operational Support Orders.
9. Release authorized by Lieutenant General William J. Bowers,
Deputy Commandant, Manpower and Reserve Affairs.//
