January 16, 2026 Governor Patrick Morrisey Orders Flags at Half Staff to Honor Paul Prunty ...

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Governor Patrick Morrisey has ordered flags to be flown at half staff in Marion County and at the Capitol Complex in Charleston to honor the life and service of former Delegate Paul Prunty. The order is in place from sunrise to sunset on January 16, 2026.

Upon hearing of Prunty's passing, Governor Morrisey issued the following statement:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Paul Prunty, a dedicated political leader who served Marion and Taylor counties for 11 terms in the House of Delegates.

"From his work helping to establish Valley Falls State Park to his longstanding support of Prickett's Fort State Park and Fairmont State University, Prunty will forever be remembered for his steadfast commitment to his community.

"Denise and I join all West Virginians in mourning the loss of a true public servant."
