General statement - Alert

Macomb County has received inquiries from several members of the business community under the impression that the Macomb 250 Parade/Cruise is an official county-sponsored celebration recognizing the 250th anniversary of the United States. This communication is intended to clear up any confusion regarding this matter and to provide accurate information to all members of the public.

Macomb250 Parade/Cruise is not a sanctioned Macomb County event. It has not been authorized, sponsored, endorsed or sanctioned by Macomb County in any way. In fact, it could not be as it appears to be organized as a for-profit venture.

Please understand that the County has not authorized its Seal, logo, or resources in support of this event. Any sponsorship, donations, vendor fees or other financial contributions associated with the parade are made to the private organizers and not to Macomb County. It is also believed they are not tax deductible.

Further, be aware that the County, through this notice, disclaims any and all liability associated with this event. This is likely unnecessary, but the County cannot control someone's use of its name for a private purpose. However, to act with an abundance of caution, it was decided to issue this notice to avoid misleading our local partners or the public in any way.

Macomb County is proud to commemorate our nation's 250th and looks forward to supporting appropriate commemorative activities undertaken through official county channels.
