SOSV HAX portfolio company Danu Robotics, which is developing AI-powered robots to make recycling sorting faster and more cost-effective, was recently featured in TechCrunch ahead of its participation in the Startup Battlefield 200 competition at TechCrunch Disrupt.
Recycling remains a labor-intensive industry, with much of the sorting process still relying on workers manually separating valuable recyclable materials from waste streams. Danu Robotics is working to change that.
After six years of development, Amy Ma, CEO and Co-Founder of Danu Robotics, is bringing the company's robotic sorting technology to market. Its flagship robot, H.E.R.O., uses a pincer-style claw rather than the suction systems commonly employed by competing technologies. The company also leverages AI to continuously improve its software, enabling its robots to become more effective over time.
The approach is gaining commercial traction. Danu Robotics has secured $500,000 in signed contracts, received letters of interest from two major customers, and built a sales pipeline of more than 200 prospective customers.
