WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement after House Republicans removed the last two legislative days before the government shutdown deadline:
"House Republicans' continue to put politics over people with their decision to take down the only two remaining legislative days before the deadline for a government shutdown. The move is clearly a political tactic designed to make it impossible for the Senate to amend their bill and engage in bipartisan solutions. Evidently, the House GOP would rather see health care costs soar for millions of Americans than work with Democrats in a bipartisan fashion. If Republicans truly want to lower costs, if they truly want to make America healthy again, they ought to stop with these uncompromising, take-it-or-leave-it partisan politics and govern."
